JAKE REICHBART

Jake ReichbartBorn in Goteborg, Sweden, April 2, 1964, Jake has lived in Winnipeg, Tel Aviv and Amsterdam before settling in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1991.

Jake has enrolled in the Rimon School of Music, Tel Aviv 1985-1987, which features the same study program as the Berklee School of Music. During this time he attended seminars given by Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, Gaty Burton, Larry Coryell, Thijs Van Leer, Joe Pass, Richie Beirach and David Leibman. During these years Jake has performed around Tel Aviv with pop, rock, jazz, and blues bands. In 1989, Jake Joined Thijs Van Leer, leader of legendary Dutch band "Focus", to perform with him in Holland.


In 1991, Jake moved to the US to continue the study and performance of jazz guitar in several forms: as a solo guitarist; as part of a vocal--guitar duo (which won the 1992 WEMU Jazz Competition and the Emily Remler Guitar Scholarship Award); in the Jake Reichbart Trio With bassist Kurt Krahnke and drummer Pete Siers; in the septet "The Jazz Company"; in "The Lunar Octet", an eight-piece Latin jazz group and in a jazz-rock quartet, featuring keyboardist Phil Kelly.

During this time Jake started making a name for himself as a freelance player and started working with a
wide variety of bands in the Detroit Metro area.
